Свято-Георгиевский приход Пномпеня оказал материальную помощь семье беженцев из Эфиопии. Амсайо и Пртукал с детьми были вынуждены покинуть свою родину, провинцию Оромия, из-за вооруженных нападений на христианскую общину.

Осенью 2019 года эпицентром преследования христиан в Эфиопии стала провинция Оромия, где случилась серия погромов храмов и монастырей, убийств священников и верующих, в том числе во время богослужений.

6 ноября 2020 г. Святейший Патриарх Московский и всея Руси Кирилл выразил соболезнования Абуне Матфию, Патриарху-Католикосу Эфиопии в связи с убийством верующих Эфиопской Церкви в области Вeллега региона Оромия.

St. George parish assisted a refugee family

St. George’s Parish of Phnom Penh provided material assistance to a family of refugees from Ethiopia. Amsayo and Prtukal with their children are from the Oromia region and were forced to leave their homeland due to the threat of armed attacks.
In the fall of 2019, the Oromia province became the epicenter of the persecution of Christians in Ethiopia, where there was a series of pogroms of churches and monasteries, murders of priests and believers, including during divine services.
On November 6, 2020, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed his condolences to Abune Matthias, Patriarch-Catholicos of Ethiopia, in connection with the murder of the faithful of the Ethiopian Church in the Wellega zone of Oromia region.
